Sizing Chart
Use your actual body measurements when choosing a kilt or outfit. Your usual trouser size may be different. The guides below cover men's kilts, women's kilts and suits, with the key steps also available as readable text.
For the full kilt and jacket instructions, read our Kilt Measuring Guides. If you are unsure which measurements a particular item needs, contact us before ordering.
Before you measure
- Use a flexible measuring tape, stand naturally and ask someone to help with length measurements.
- Keep the tape level and comfortably snug, without pulling it tight.
- Measure twice and record the units. The illustrated guides use inches; 1 inch equals 2.54 cm.
- Check the chosen product's fit and measurement options before submitting your order.
Your three key kilt measurements
| Measurement | How to take it | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Waist | Measure around the position where the top of the kilt will sit. A traditional kilt is commonly worn around the natural waist; check the product guidance for a utility or alternative fit. | Use the measurement from the intended kilt position, rather than copying a trouser label. |
| Hip / seat | With your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Keep the tape level all the way around. | Record the actual measurement without adding an allowance. |
| Length | Measure down from the same waist position to your intended hem at the knee. Use the relevant illustration and product instructions to confirm the finished length. | Do not estimate length from height alone. Ask us if the suggested measurements disagree. |

Check your measurements before you order
Make sure the waist position, units and length are consistent across your measurements. Custom-made items follow our Returns & Refunds policy, so please ask for help before ordering if you are uncertain about fit.
Compare men's utility kilts, men's tartan kilts and Prince Charlie outfits, then use the selected item's measurement options.
